Britney Spears – Womanizer

Posted in music news, Single Reviews with tags , , , , on September 29, 2008 by kv

Okay, we all thought that this song will be premiering on Monday but all of a sudden it was announced that it was pushed back for a week. Of course, with the help of today’s technology looks like Britney can’t wait for a week so her brand new single “WOMANIZER” leaked early Sunday.

Womanizer, is another sign that Britney is getting back on the right track. Her much anticipated album “Circus” isn’t out until December so while we’re waiting, this electro-pop is indeed a heart thumping dance anthem that will surely find its way onto dancefloors ASAP. Even though when I first heard it, it kinda reminds me of Rihanna’s 2006 hit “S.O.S”. Anyways, Womanizer is worth the wait for this “RECOVERING” former “TROUBLED” popstar. She’s back with vengeance but not as a bad-ass bitch when she premiered her comeback song last year “Gimme More”.

To sum it up, Britney’s song is quite as impressing as she is when she sang “Gimme More” in front of the MTV VMA audience last year that made her a public icon of humility. Well, Britney is still Britney and she’s on her way onto the top of the charts. Oops! She did it AGAIN for the nth time!

Of course, if you haven’t heard the song yet try to go to YouTube and find the LQ rips or even HQ rips if there is any.

Katy Perry – Hot N Cold

Posted in Single Reviews with tags , , , , , , , , on September 24, 2008 by kv

Well, Katy Perry certainly enjoyed kissing the girls when her first single “I Kissed A Girl” topped almost all the charts around the world. Her exquisite music taste is even getting better as she releases her third official single titled “Hot ‘N Cold” still off from her debut album “One Of the Boys”.

For those who are tired of hearing “IKAG”, “Hot ‘N Cold” promises to deliver us with another electro-pop song that’ll make sure it makes its way to radios and your iPods / music players. The song is written by Katy Perry, Dr.Luke and Max Martin. It’s lyrics are quite a bit cheeky for the second time around for Katy. “You PMS like a Bitch” is a little bit remarkable. Agree?

Even way before the song is released, it already managed to gain sales due to her album “One Of The Boys” on iTunes and other music stores. It is currently on its way to the US top 10 with a current #12 spot. Will “Hot N Cold” equal the success of I Kissed a Girl? or will it even have much larger success than IKAG?

RELEASED: September 9 (US), September 10 (AUS), October 6, 2008 (UK)

RATING: 4/5

Faith Hill might re-enter UK top 10

Posted in music news with tags , , , , on September 24, 2008 by kv

American singer Faith Hill is very much happy about her 2001 single “There You’ll Be” as it might re-enter the top 10 of the UK Singles Charts this Sunday. The commotion is because of a 19 year-old contestant of the hit British television counterpart of American Idol, “The X-Factor”. She sang Faith Hill’s song which peaked at #3 way back in 2001. It immediately peaked at #4 on the iTunes download chart.

Amy Connolly who is a contestant on the X-Factor managed to get Girls Aloud’s Cheryl Cole on tears after which she dedicated the song to her father who raised her single-handedly.

The performance attracked downloaders to buy Hill’s song. Of course, this sort of thing is far from unprecented – Amy Winehouse and Christina Aguilera, among others, enjoyed similar sales boosts during last year’s X Factor, while Mint Royale’s ‘Singin’ In The Rain’ reached number one in June after a contestant on Britain’s Got Talent danced onto it.

Here’s the performance video:

Another Way To Die – The New 007 Theme

Alicia Keys and The White Stripes’ frontman Jack White have teamed up to come up with the first ever duet in the theme songs of James Bond films. The track is titled “Another Way To Die” which premiered its first ever radio airplay on Jo Whiley’s BBC Radio 1 slot in the UK.

The single will be available in a 7″ vinyl CD to become available on US stands on September 30, 2008 while looking at an October 6 release in the UK.

Sources say that the song is a bit quite a mess. The song has garnered mixed reviews from listeners according to NewsBeat. It is not comparable to past bond hits such as Diamonds are Forever but is a bit resemblance to the effort done by Chris Cornell in Casino Royale. Well, it’s up for you to decide wether its a mess or not.

Will Young – Changes

Posted in Single Reviews with tags , , , on September 22, 2008 by kv

Since his phenomenal win in Britain’s Pop Idol way back in the early 2000s, there’s so much going on to Mr. Will Young. This time around, having been away from the charts for nearly two-and-a-half years, he’s taking no chances, leading with a very tasteful, very adult pop song.

“Changes” his latest release after 2 years is a comeback hit pretty much the same tune to James Morrison’s “You Give Me Something”. With all that chorus and musical arrangement, It’s really not that coincidental that the two songs are written by the same person.

“Changes” enters a mellow first part with a little bit of eroticity in it and eventually enters a big chorus that is just infectious as his other hits were. It’s a statement that 2008 is the year of the comebacks. Wonder why so many artists are having their careers risen from the ashes this year?

Will Young’s new material isn’t much a prospect #1 hit but with an impressive #10 debut this week, he might actually sneak his way onto the top if given the chance.
